Ranthambore National Park is a wild spot that covers a lot of area. The park is divided into 10 safari zones, and each zone of this thrilling park offers a different kind of experience. These zones are made to allow tourists to explore the area based on their liking and to provide a better safari experience. You can explore these zones by booking a gypsy or a canter safari. While you book the safari, you can choose the Ranthambore Safari Zone according to your preference.
Zone 1 is one of the most exciting zones because this one is known for sightings of some famous tigers like Sultan (T-72), Noor (T-39), and Ustad (T-24). The entry and exit gate for this zone is called Singh Dwar, and it’s famous among wildlife enthusiasts because it offers maximum chances of tiger sightings. Some of the top spots inside this zone include Tuti ka Nalla, Sultanpur, Gada Dub, Amreshwar Dang, and Peela Pani. The tiger sightings are most common at these spots in zone 1. At these spots, you can easily spot a tiger if lucky.
The Zone 2 is considered one of the best safari zones in Ranthambore because the number of animal sightings here is really good. When you go for a safari in this zone, you can see a lot of water bodies that attract animals to quench their thirst. More animals mean better chances of spotting them. This zone is home to well-known tigers like Ustad (T-24), Noor (T-39), Sultan (T-72), Jhumru (T-20), and Krishna (T-19). Along with tigers, leopards, and other wildlife can also be seen here. Popular sighting points in this safari zone of Ranthambore are Jogi Mahal, Nal Ghati, Phuta Kot, Phuta Bandha, Jhalra, and Lahpur Tiraha. This one is best for a safari during summer.
This zone is famous among tourists because it has Padam Talao, which is one of the most beautiful lakes of this park. Because of the late, a lot of tigers can be seen here because they love hanging around water bodies. Some of the star tigers you can see here include Sitara (T-28), Krishna (T-19), and their cubs. The main locations in this Ranthabore Safari Zone are Padam Talab, Jogi Mahal, Raj Bagh ruins, High Point, and Mandook. This is one of the most beautiful zones of Ranthambore and is a favorite of safari goers who come to the park often.
Zone 4 is special because it used to be home to Machli, the legendary tigress of Ranthambore. Before her passing, this was one of the most popular zones, and everyone wanted to book a safari here. Even now, this zone is known for sightings of famous tigers like T-19, T-25, T-28, T-41, T-64, and T-75. Some popular points for tiger sightings in this safari zone of Ranthambore are Malik Talab, Singh Dwar, Lakkad Da, Lambi, Adidaant, and Tamakhan. This zone is best for enjoying a memorable safari experience in the area.
This is another zone which is famous for spotting of tigers and is loved by the tourists because it’s home to tigers like T-17, T-25, T-28, T-74, and T-75. The zones 4 and 5 of the park share the same entry gate, but they have different routes. Some of the best spots in zone 5 where tourists can spot animals are Singh Dwar, Kachida Valley, Anatpur, Jokha, Baghdad, and Dhakda. If you don’t get a chance to book a safari for zone 4 of Rantambore, then making a booking for zone 5 is equally good. Here, the sightings of tigers are common along with the herbivores.
Zone 6 is a favorite territory of Noor (T-39) and her cubs. Along with her, other tigers like T-8, T-34, and T-57 are also often seen here. This zone is located next to Zone 1, but the entry gate for Zone 6 is on the opposite side, which makes the route totally opposite. This zone not only offers sightings of tigers, but also this is one of the best safari zones in Ranthambore for seeing some rare bird species like the endangered Red-Headed Vultures. The best spots for tiger sightings in this zone include Palli Darwaza, Kala Pani, Patwa Ki Baori, Soleshwar, Khabli, and Saran Ka Pattha. Zone 7 of Ranthambore is known because of the tigers T-8 and T-34. This zone is their territory, and they are frequently sighted here by the tourists. This zone is not as famous as the other ones because it doesn’t have many sighting points. The major spots to check out here are Chidikho, Kushalipura, Jamoda, and Rajbagh Naka. This Ranthambore Safari Zone is very similar in terms of landscape and tiger sightings to zone 7 of the park. Just like in Zone 7, the tigers T-8 and T-34 dominate this area too. If you’re exploring this zone, keep your eyes on spots like Balas, Kali Bhat, Neemli Dang, Mahakho, and Kherai for a chance to see tigers. This safari zone of Ranthambore is less crowded than other zones of the park and offers a nice and peaceful safari experience. Zone 9 is a bit different from the others as it is located along the bank of the Chakal River. It takes about 45 minutes to drive here from the main Tiger Reserve gate of this park. This one offers a unique experience to the tourists as it offers sightings of tiger-like T-42 and T-59. Besides tigers, you can also spot sloth bears, caracals, and a variety of aquatic birds here. Because of the river, you can see a lot of animals here during the summer season. Also, this is one of the most beautiful zones of the park because it has flowering trees.
This zone is newly made in some years and is famous among people because of its hilly tracks and beautiful landscapes. This zone is full of deciduous forests and also has a few scenic water bodies, because of which it offers a thrilling safari ride and beautiful views. Tigers like T-43, T-13, and their cubs are commonly seen here. Sometimes, the well-known tiger T-42 (Fateh) also makes an appearance in this zone. Popular spots for sightings include Kushalipura, Halonda, Bodal, Aantri, Banskhori, and Devpura. One should definitely try a safari in this zone if they want an adventurous yet scenic safari experience.
