Desert National Park

As the name says, this national park is located in the Thar Desert near Jaisalmer. It is also in Rajasthan and it has unique wildlife. This park is one of the largest in India with an area of 3162 square kilometers. Here, one can observe the Great Indian Bustard which is a rare and critically endangered bird species. Other than that, migratory birds like the Houbara bustard, falcons, and eagles can also be spotted here. Animals of this sandy park include Indian fox, desert fox, chinkara (Indian gazelle), and several species of lizards and snakes also call this park their home.

Desert National Park is different from other wildlife sanctuaries and it has its own charm because of its stunning sand dunes and many natural rock formations. This park’s flora and fauna are also different and have adapted to survive in the harsh, dusty, sandy climate. In total, this park has 120 plant species and 150 bird species that survive because of the salt lake bottoms and craggy rocks that serve as water reservoirs.
