Ranthambore Jungle Safari
Doing a canter or gypsy Safari in Ranthambore is a way of exploring the wild area of Ranthambore National Park. You can explore the area on safaris that are offered by the Forest Department of Rajasthan to promote tourism in the area. Ranthambore Jungle Safari offers a thrilling chance to explore the wild area on wheels with a guide and a driver. The Safaris are done by gypsies and canters that will take you inside the park and there you can spot wild animals from close.
This park has a huge area of 1,334 square kilometers and that area is divided into 10 different zones. Every zone of the park offers different sightings of wild animals and people like to come here for this experience. You can go inside these zones on different safari rides. Points To Remember
The zone will be allowed as per availability.
Visitors can select either Zone 1 to 7 or 8 to 10.
There are 10 Safari zones in Ranthambore National Park.
If you select Safari for 1 to 7 Zone that means your safari will be conducted in any one Zone from all these, same as for Zone 8 to 10.
In the case of the current Ranthambore safari booking, any of the zones between 1 and 10 can be allocated.
Types of Safari
There are two types of safaris in the wild Ranthambore National Park that allow you to explore the park. Gypsy and Canter are there on which you can explore the area.
GYPSY SAFARI
- These are 4-wheeler gypsy that are open from all sides. The gypsy will take you deep inside the park to explore the rich variety of flora and fauna. These safaris offer a closer view of animals. These are short vehicles and they can easily go on the small routes of the jungle and they are open from all sides. Many people choose gypsy safari for their thrilling and adventurous exploration.
- In total, 88 gypsies can go inside the park at a time in all zones. It means that 88 gypsies are allowed for the morning shift and 88 gypsies are allowed for the evening shift. Out of 88 gypsies, 58 gypsies can be booked in advance and the remaining 20 gypsies are for Tatkal booking. Out of 20, 5 gypsies are for special category quota and 5 gypsies are for full day / half day safari.
- 6 passengers can go inside a gypsy, which means people can make a Ranthambore safari booking for 1 gypsy for 6 people and 2 seats are there for the guide and driver (children below 5 can go without a seat). The gypsy safaris are booked on a sharing basis, for example, if you’re 4 people then 4 seats will be booked for you, and the other 2 seats will get booked for other people. However, if you want to make Ranthambore online Safari Booking for an entire gypsy for 4 people then it can also be done but you have to pay the full amount of the safari.

CANTER SAFARI
- These are also 4-wheelers, but they are buses. These are other types of safari that will take you deep inside the park to explore the rich variety of flora and fauna. These safaris offer a nice view of animals even from a distance because they are higher in height than a gypsy safari. These Canter are great for people who are coming in large groups and also these are budget-friendly. Canters are permitted for every zone except zones 7 and 8.
- In total, 52 canter can go inside the Ranthambore National Park at a particular shift. It means that 52 Canter Safaris are allowed for the morning shift and 52 are allowed for the evening shift.
- 20 passengers can go inside a canter, which means you can make a Ranthambore online Safari Booking for 1 canter for 20 people and 2 seats are there for the guide and driver. The guide and driver sit in the front seat and the other 20 members sit in the back. Canter Safaris are booked on a sharing basis. If you’re coming in big groups then booking a Canter would be the best option for you.

How to Book Safari

Details you need to provide include name, age, and gender along with ID proof number. Then you have to mention the Safari Date, Safari Shift, and Safari Vehicle that you need to choose. You can choose any one i.e. Gypsy or Canter.
Tourists have to provide identity card details to make Ranthambore safari Booking. It includes any government photo identity card for Indian citizens (Voter ID, Aadhar Card, PAN card, Driving license, etc.) and Passports for foreign nationals (foreigners can only give passports for their identification). Visitors need to take the same original ID in their backpack when coming for a safari and then show it at the gates.
It is important to listen to your guide and driver for safety reasons. Obey all the rules that they tell you.
Blowing horn, shouting, or using any tape recorder, transistor, or radio is strictly prohibited.
Don’t try to get down from the vehicle during your ride, it is strictly prohibited.
Don’t try to carry pets during your ride.
You have to carry permits or passes and ID cards when coming for a safari. Without the original permit and ID, you are not permitted to enter the park.
